Easter Sunday
On Easter Sunday we were slated for a family visit to Frank's parents' house. However they all thought that since we were in the area Jammie and I should check out the Hoge Veluwe National Park. At this park they have tons of biking trails and they even have racks upon racks of free bikes for you to use in the park.
We picked up a couple of the free white bicycles and hit the trail. By trail what the mean is paved mini road and the main wildlife spotting that we did in this national park was people watching. Still it was enjoyable. We stopped by the park's Centrum area and had a bite to eat about midway through our circuit of the park. After lunch we took a bad turn and to get back on track I suggested that we cut through a dirt road to the next section of bike trail. This would have been fine except the bikes we were riding were single gear granny bikes not at all suited to off-roading.
Much angst ensued before we managed to get onto a paved path again. This detour ended up costing us precious time and unfortunately we didn't make it to the inlaws house in time to see Frank's sister and her two kids or the grandmother. Still Frank's mother Anne served us up some much needed food and beer and we got to check out Garrit's garden, workshop and his hand built grandfather clock. Very impressive.
