Algarrobo Day 3
On our third day in Algarrobo we walked up the beach to San Alfonso del Mar, a huge resort development famous for having the largest swimming pool in the world. The site features five huge ugly buildings facing onto a pool over 1 kilometer in length. Apparently the pool alone cost $1 billion and it costs over $2 million each year to maintain it. The pool is walled off from the beach and patrolled by guards. Outside of the pool is a beautiful beach with hardly anyone on it. If it weren't for the killer Chilean sun we would have stayed and lounged for a while.
Heading back towards town we picked up Gonzolo, our host, and hit a local bar for happy hour. Drinking Pisco sours and talking on the roof top bar was very fun. Back at the apartment we drank the lower brow Piscola and talked about philosophy, history, ethics, love, marriage and all the spice of life. Another great day!
That night Jammie and I headed to a bar that had advertised kareoke. It was quite fun, although the songs were in Spanish sung so fast that it made my head spin, that or it was the Pisco. We finally stumbled home around 2 AM to get to bed.
