Pre Incan Ruins
On our last day in Cusco we had planned to go mountain biking with our friend Luis. We decided to rent the bikes after meeting him in the square. This turned out to be a good idea, because Luis soon appeared limping badly. We rushed to his side asking him what the matter was. He explained that he had started coming down with an illness and went to the pharmacist to get an injection. This turned out to be a "mal injecion" and had hurt him so badly that he could barely walk. I suspect the pharmacist hit a bone with the needle causing a bad bone bruise.
Changing plans we thought a taxi ride through the country would be better and easier on our friend. After driving for about an hour we realized that Luis was trying to take us to a place we would have to walk around. This meant he had to sit down on a rock while we explored some pre Incan ruins. We felt terrible, Adrial more so since he was started to feel sick himself.
This left Jammie and I to quickly walk around the ruins until guilt at our two incapacitated friends drew us back to the entrance. The city we were at was huge and I felt bad that we only saw a small part of it. The walls, even ruined, towered over us and surrounding the whole city was a double wall perhaps 15-20 feet high that ran for miles around the city. This was the oldest place we visited predating the Incas by several hundred years.
Eventually we had to leave and head out to our next stop, Tipon, the Incan water temple.
